  • Therapeutic Indications

    Uses

    Pain due to sore throat and minor mouth infection

    Dosage

    Treatment must not exceed 7 days.

    Allow lozenge to dissolve slowly in the mouth.

    Adults

    1 lozenge three times a day.

    Children

    Children over 6 years
    1 lozenge three times a day.

    Contraindications

    Children under 6 years
    Breastfeeding
    Hereditary fructose intolerance
    Pregnancy

    Precautions and Warnings

    Asthma
    History of asthma

    Some formulations contain aspartame - caution in phenylketonuria
    Some forms contain isomalt: unsuitable in hereditary fructose intolerance
    Some formulations contain sunset yellow (E110); may cause allergic reaction
    If symptoms persist a doctor or dentist should be consulted

    Side Effects

    Anaphylactic reaction
    Angioedema
    Burning sensation of the mouth
    Dry mouth
    Hypersensitivity reactions
    Laryngospasm
    Oral hypoaesthesia
    Photosensitivity

    Overdosage

    It is strongly recommended that the UK National Poisons Information Service be consulted on cases of suspected or actual overdose where there is doubt over the degree of risk or about appropriate management.
