    Pregnancy and Lactation

    Pregnancy

Use levofloxacin eye drops with caution during pregnancy.

The manufacturer recommends levofloxacin eye drops are not used during pregnancy unless the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the foetus. Animal studies do not indicate any direct or indirect harmful effects relating to reproductive toxicity. At the time of writing there is limited human data available. Risks are unknown.

    Lactation

Use levofloxacin eye drops with caution during breastfeeding.

The manufacturer advises levofloxacin is excreted in human milk and should only be used during breastfeeding if the potential benefit justifies any risk to the breast fed child. However, at therapeutic doses of levofloxacin eye drops no effects on the breast fed child are anticipated.
