Lidocaine with aminoacridine oromucosal

Presentation

Oromucosal gel containing lidocaine hydrochloride and aminoacridine hydrochloride (sugar containing and sugar-free).

Drugs List

  • lidocaine 0.66% and aminoacridine 0.05% oral gel
  • lidocaine 0.66% and aminoacridine 0.05% oral gel sugar-free
  • MEDIJEL gel
  • Therapeutic Indications

    Uses

    Abrasions and ulcers of mouth

    Dosage

    Adults

    Apply sparingly to the affected area(s) with a clean finger tip or a cotton wool bud. Re-apply as necessary.

    Each application should normally last for an hour or more although eating and/or drinking may necessitate more frequent applications.

    Children

    Not all available brands are licensed for childen under 7 years.

    Contraindications

    None known

    Precautions and Warnings

    Children under 7 years
    Breastfeeding
    Glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome
    Hereditary fructose intolerance
    Pregnancy

    Not suitable for treatment of teething in children
    Not all available brands are licensed for all age groups
    Some formulations contain sucrose
    If accidental contact with the eyes occurs, rinse thoroughly with water
    If symptoms persist a doctor or dentist should be consulted
    Keep oral gel away from the eyes

    Pregnancy

    Use lidocaine with aminoacridine with caution during pregnancy.

    The manufacturer advises caution if lidocaine with aminoacridine is used during pregnancy. At the time of writing animal studies are insufficient and the potential risks to humans are unknown.

    It is strongly recommended that the UK National Poisons Information Service be consulted on cases of suspected or actual overdose where there is doubt over the degree of risk or about appropriate management.
