In the First in a New Series of Videos, Dr Toni Hazell and Dr Kevin Fernando Discuss Hormone-Replacement Therapy

Theory in Practice (TIPs) videos are a new series of interviews in which Dr Kevin Fernando consults healthcare professionals about topical issues in primary care, asking two questions and agreeing two key take-home messages.
Key: BMI=body mass index; BMS=British Menopause Society; HCP=healthcare professional; HRT=hormone-replacement therapy; PCWHF=Primary Care Women’s Health Forum; RCOG=Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists; SNRI=serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor; SSRI=selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor
In this TIPs video, the first in the series, Dr Kevin Fernando interviews Dr Toni Hazell about hormone-replacement therapy (HRT), asking two questions:
- how should healthcare professionals explain the risks associated with HRT to patients, and what are the key messages they should use?
- how should testosterone deficiency be managed in primary care, and should GPs be prescribing testosterone to perimenopausal and menopausal women?
